Chitragupta is a Hindu deity who is believed to be the record-keeper of every human being's good and bad deeds throughout their life. He is also known as Dharmaraja, which means the king of righteousness, and is considered one of the assistants of Lord Yama, the god of death. According to Hindu mythology, Chitragupta is said to have been created by Lord Brahma and is depicted with four hands, holding a pen, inkpot, sword, and a book.
It is believed that after a person's death, Chitragupta reads the book that contains the individual's life story and assigns them a place in heaven or hell based on their karma.
In some parts of India, Chitragupta Puja is celebrated on the second day after Diwali, where people worship him and offer prayers to seek his blessings for their prosperity, success, and well-being.

चित्रगुप्त मन्त्र हृदयादिषडंगन्यास ॐ नमो विचित्राय हृदयाय नमः॥ धर्मलेखकाय शिरसे स्वाहा॥ यमवाहिकाधिकारिणे शिखायै वषट्॥ म्ल्व्यूं जन्मसम्पत्प्रलयं कवचाय हुम्॥ कथय कथय नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट्॥ स्वाहा अस्त्राय फट्।।

वस्त्रभूषारिामं विचित्रासीनमिन्दुप्रभास्यम्। नृणां पापपुण्यानि पत्रे लिखन्तं भजे चित्रगुप्तं सखायं यमस्य॥
